The central character in this movie is Jake, played by Robert Dinero, who is involved in a long standing struggle to find a stand up position spiritually, even while experiencing circumstances that continue to sap his vitality.
The opening scene starts off with a flashback to earlier days at the beginnings of his marriage where he is zoning out in front of the TV and is confronted by his youthful wife who intends to leave him then as she says he is hurting her soul.
The way he handles this confrontation is his big sin and follows him all the way into the present scenes of the movie where he is handling a bevy of cases for incarnated potential parolees.
The main case he is working now for the purposes of the movie, is with Stone, who has been in prison 8 years with the potential for parole right now depending on his decision.
Stone is a seemingly A-moral character who is at the same time reading into the of the depths of Jake’s despair that is relatively unspoken and hidden by him but yet he seems to wear it on his sleeve without saying it.
The character of Stone has a still attentive pretty young wife who visits him and is hoping for quick way back home.
This part of the movie does stretch the belief of the viewer in that it is unlikely she would hang around for 8 years after just one year of marriage waiting for him to be released and just having occasional visits.
Jake is attending church services with his wife and constantly listening to Christian talk radio as he drives around.
As the movie progresses we find that he apparently has had a long standing depressive reaction to his work with miscreants that included job burnout and he has done this apparently to support the house and the expenses.
There need not be a split between the spiritual and material and between work and the spiritual but in Jake’s case there is and while he is trying to counter how the jobs saps his spirit, he is and has spent too much time at something he essentially loathes and he is in an ongoing uphill battle to right his own ship and has seemingly failed to bring things totally upright for himself.
When the seductions appear in the film, because of his weakened state from the job and his inner turmoil he is somewhat easy prey for the forces of seduction.
He never found base camp one for his own personal peace and redemption.
The question of the movie is whether he will fall all the way or whether his spiritual striving s outside of work will keep him from a total fall into personal chaos and the points of no return.
But more so this movie forms as a portrait, of someone who to the observer should have left his job at all costs much earlier on, if he ever was going to find equilibrium for his soul and spirit, he has to escape the prison of this job, which was an ongoing dark cloud for him.
While he was always seeking council, it was too distant from the reality that someone needed to get through to him hands on that the job he was doing, while maybe doable by others, was in fact ruinous to him and too encompassing to wholly overcome with his attempts to right himself outside the confines of the job.

The ancient Egyptians wore them to protect their shaved, hairless heads from the sun. Other ancient cultures, including Assyrians, Phoenicians, Greek and Romans also used wigs. Wigs are principally a Western form of dress in the Far East they have rarely been used in traditional theater of Japan and China. Some artists-East Asian (Japanese Geisha, Korean Kisaeng) wore wigs (Katsura and Gache, respectively) as part of their traditional costumes. After fall of the Roman Empire, The use of wigs fell into abeyance in the West for a thousand years until revived in the 16th century as a means of compensating for hair loss or improving one’s personal appearance. They also served a practical purpose: the unhygienic conditions of the time meant that hair attracted Head Lice, A problem that could be greatly reduced if natural hair were shaved and replaced by an artificial hairpiece more easily de-loused. Hoods were also used in the same defensively.
Royal patronage was crucial to the revival of the human hair wigs.[Citation needed] Queen Elizabeth I of England known and wore a red wig, well and carefully wrapped in a “Roman” style while King Louis XIII of France (1601-1643) and King Louis XIV of France (1638-1715) pioneer the wig-wearing among men from the 1620s onwards.
Wigs or wigs for men were introduced into the English-speaking world with other French styles when Charles II was restored to the throne in 1660 after a long exile in France. These wigs were shoulder-length or longer, imitating the long hair that had become fashionable among men since the 1620s. Their use soon became popular in the English court. The London diarist Samuel Pepys recorded the day in 1665 that a barber shaved his head and he tried on her new human hair wigs for the first time, but in a year of plague he was uneasy to wear:
“3rd September 1665: Up, and put on my colored silk dress, very beautiful, and my new wig, bought a long time, but Darst not wear because the plague was in Westminster when I bought it. And it is amazing what will be the fashion after the plague is done wigs; because no one will dare buy Haire, fear of infection? He had been cut off heads of dead from the plague. ”
Wigs were not without other drawbacks, as Pepys noted March 27, 1667:
“I went to the Swan, and he sent for my old Jervas wig-maker and he gives me a wig, but she was full of nits, so I was disturbed to see (it is his lack of age) and send him to make it fit. ”

Clark Terry, born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1920, has a career that spans more than six decades. When Terry was a young boy, he made his first horn from a garden hose, a funnel and a piece of pipe because there was no money in his family of ten children to purchase a horn.
Recognizing his determination, his neighbors collected $12.50 to buy him a trumpet at a pawnshop. At Vashion High School, he learned to play a bugle in the Tom Powell Drum and Bugle Corps and later learned to play the valve trombone. After graduation, Terry’s talent playing the trumpet allowed his budding sound to penetrate the local St. Louis music scene, filled at the time with the blues, a form that was rapidly evolving into another new indigenous American music.
In summer, St. Louis, a hot humid place by the river and a freezing place in winter was the intensely creative atmosphere, no matter what the season, that exposed Terry to his first professional taste of swing, bebop and early jazz, which were burning new paths in riverboat pubs, smoky nightclubs, alleys and basements along the Mississippi River in the 1930s and ‘40s.”
During World War II, Clark Terry joined the U.S. Navy and was sent to the Great Lakes Naval Station (1942-1945), where he joined the Navy Band, gained valuable lessons of discipline, developed his practicing technique from a clarinet book and grasped John Philip Sousa’s contributions to U.S. military musical convention. Upon honorable service discharge and over the next several years, Terry worked with Lionel Hampton, Charlie Barnet, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Charlie Ventura, George Hudson, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Dinah Washington, Ben Webster, Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, Billy Strayhorn, Dexter Gordon, Thelonious Monk, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Coleman Hawkins, Zoot Sims, Milt Jackson, Bob Brookmeyer, Jon Faddis and Dianne Reeves.
It was with Ellington’s band, though, that Terry became a national musical sensation, Becoming a connoisseur and creator of a joyful jazz, with which he intended to lift his own spirits and the spirits of his listeners, Terry’s impeccable taste in note selection and musical phrasing made him famous for his delightful treatment of the traditional interpretation of Terry’s unique musical style.
Terry’s perhaps most high-profile position came in 1960 when he was hired by the NBC-TV Orchestra, conducted by Doc Severenson, on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, making Terry the first African-American staff musician at NBC, where for 12 years he was a hit with his singing invention, ‘Mumbles’ based on his combination of slurring and scatting vocals, which he performed to a jazzy musical groove. In 1972, when The Tonight Show was moving from New York to Los Angeles, Severenson asked his popular trumpeter to move with the NBC Orchestra but Terry turned down the offer to move, making the difficult decision to leave The Tonight Show and remain in New York where he was in demand as a studio musician and popular performer. Going on to become an international jazz luminary, Terry toured the United States and the world as part of the Norman Granz Jazz at the Philharmonic and became a jazz ambassador for the U.S. State Department in the 1970s.
At some point, Terry began experimenting with the flugelhorn and consulting with industry experts on modifying the construction of the instrument’s anatomy to resurrect its fading reputation and to re-introduce it as a jazz instrument. Then Terry made the flugelhorn his principal instrument, a bold and innovative choice that led to double pay when he was booked to play both the flugelhorn and the trumpet on the same show.
Terry performed at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and Lincoln Center, and toured with the Newport Jazz All Stars, Jazz at the Philharmonic and the New York Pops. He made several recordings with major groups, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Dutch Metropole Orchestra, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Clark Terry’s Big Bad Band and Clark Terry’s Young Titans of Jazz. Texts, in which Terry wrote about the trumpet and jazz as a form of music, are used worldwide. Host of the Clark Terry Jazz Festivals since 2000, he also directs the Clark Terry International Institute of Jazz Studies at Westmar University, conducts his own Big Band Summer Jazz Camp and advises the International Association of Jazz Educators. A bronze statue of Clark Terry adorns the St. Louis Walk of Fame along with statues of other musicians, including Chuck Berry, Scott Joplin, Miles Davis, Tina Turner and hip-hop star Nelly. Winner of Grammy Awards and a lifetime achievement award by the Recording Academy, Clark Terry was inducted into the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Hall of Fame in 1991.
Much of Terry’s benevolence in assisting young horn players to obtain instruments may have been born from his own family’s financial inability to purchase an instrument when he was a boy eager to learn to play.

Carlos Santana is a classic rock guitarist, singer, and composer whose style is instantly recognisable. Fans of the artist have something to rejoice about after the release of his latest album, Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics Of All Time. On this cover album, Santana pays respectful tribute to some of the most notable names in music.

The project combines the guitarist’s distinctive sound with some of the music industry’s biggest talents.

Many Santana followers will say that the artist can’t be equalled and that there are few musicians who can keep up with his dynamic guitar mastery. That didn’t stop Santana from creating this latest album with a group of his musical peers.

The artist is no stranger to choosing the best vocalists to share his fame with. On Guitar Heaven, he has an unfailing knack for choosing the perfect voices to represent the rock idols he is honouring. Classics like The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm” and Robert Plant’s “Whole Lotta Love” are reverently performed but carry just enough power to stand on their own.

Santana’s guitar playing on Guitar Heaven lives up to the magnitude of his previous projects. He honours some of the rockers who have helped make rock and roll what it is today. The guitar authority does justice to the arrangements and takes the album from typical cover collaboration to a heartfelt tribute. The compilations showcase his vast range of expertise.

Santana does a commendable job at giving each song the respect it deserves while preserving his unique style. Classic, beloved guitar solos from masters like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton are interpreted with just the right amount of individuality. Santana delivers his familiar eerie spirit but maintains the original essence of each track.

During the forty years of Santana’s career, he has sold over ninety million records.

Born in Autlan, Jalisco, Mexico on June 20, 1947 as Carlos Augusto Alves Santana, he was instantly a member of the musical world. He was taught by his father to play the violin at the age of five. He learned the guitar at age eight and was playing at clubs before he was a teenager. He moved to California in the early 1960s, where he later debuted with the Santana Blues Band.

The release of his first album, Santana, occurred in 1969.

Santana’s musical credits include a performance at Woodstock, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and numerous Grammy awards. He has compiled over forty albums and sold over one hundred million copies worldwide. His more popular works include “Black Magic Woman” from the album Abraxas, and “Smooth” from the album Supernatural.

Santana’s latest success with Guitar Heaven will make his fans anxious for more. The album was released on September 21, 2010 by Arista Records. It’s available in CD or CD/DVD form and the tracks are available as MP3 music downloads. Guitar Heaven doesn’t disappoint, and fans will experience the same inspiring quality they have come to expect from Carlos Santana.

The invention of the dive helmet changed underwater exploration for the better. Its invention had a significant impact on the entire world, allowing us to better understand our planet. The dive helmet remains a symbol of the nautical culture for this reason. Because of this, there are many different nautical decorations based on the dive helmet. These nautical décor items vary from simple desktop decorations like pen holders to beautiful dive helmets made out of brass, copper, or chrome. The dive helmet stands as a symbolic nautical decoration that both nautical collectors and ordinary people will find useful.
The brass diver helmet pen holder is, just as suggested by the name, made of solid brass. Holding pencils and pens in the brass diver’s helmet are just a side-use of such an aesthetically pleasing nautical decoration. One of the features seen most on these brass dive helmet pen holders is a quartz clock. It is made to be a replica of an actual diver’s helmet, though smaller in scale. A quality hardwood base is usually what holds down nautical decor items like the brass dive helmet pen holder. Nautical décor dive helmets of agreeable quality are very polished and are made of the best materials. The quality of the authentic dive helmet pen holder is enhanced by small touches such as green felt lining on the bottom, protecting both the nautical decoration and the surface it is placed on.
Other kinds of dive helmets for nautical collectors are solid iron diver’s helmet clocks. The addition of extras such as having a function clock is what makes the iron dive helmet a great nautical decoration. These beach house decorations are made to be as authentic to the real deal as possible. For instance, the dive helmet clock looks and feels exactly like an actual diving helmet. Tropical decorations such as the iron dive helmet frequently are implemented on to solid wood bases for a quality presentation.
